Visiting Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yesterday I joined Hull School of Art and Design in a visit to a beautiful place near Leeds. Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a gallery for modern and contemporary art placed in a breathtaking landscape.

The day was perfect for an outdoor visit - it was warm and sunny from the very beginning all through the day.

I started my journey through the park by visiting the Upper Space room in the main building. I found myself all alone in a room overlooking most of the park, room itself holding pieces of art from designer and illustrator Rob Ryan. I was truly impressed by the colours and contrasts of his posters.

I sat there and read the Book of Visitors for a while before continuing further in the gallery. My next stopping point was the beginning of the Peter Randall-Page exhibition. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos inside the Underground Gallery but his large-scale statues were also placed outdoors. They fit in the landscape most perfectly. I was impressed by the shapes and relief surface. His sculptures were very easy to photograph and would look just lovely on the postcards.

I think words are meaningless when I am trying to describe these pieces of art. I would like my photos to tell the story. All I would like to add to this is thanks to Sarah and Hull School of Art and Design for the best day out. I really enjoyed it.
